Child & Adolescent Counseling

provides a safe environment for children, preteens and teen as well as their caregivers to discuss the issues which are causing problems in the primary client life or family system. The work of counseling is to address the needs of the child as well as the family and offer solutions regarding stress/anxiety, trauma, depression, ADHD, or other presenting issues. The therapist cannot treat a child of divorce or separation without a copy of divorce or custody paperwork for children.

We recognize that childhood and the teen years present its own special challenges and work to create a relationships with the adolescent, and to help parents, caregivers, and family members to find a way forward together. Special challenges may include anxiety, depression, mood swings/intense emotions, low self-esteem, tantrums/defiance, physical or property aggression, school performance issues, self-harm, substance use, and response to a past or recent traumatic event.

Evaluation and Assessment

aid in identifying treatment plans that can be utilized for juvenile justice involved youth for the purpose of placement referrals or adjudications. Evaluations consist of an initial appointment to gather information that will assist in determining the type of psychological testing to be used. A psychological evaluation may include intelligence testing, achievement testing, rating scales completed by parents/caregivers, teachers or another significant other in the individual's life. A full diagnostic impression and treatment recommendations will be provided in each evaluation .
